Characterofgod.org News
July 5, 2019

Greetings and blessings to all you lovers of the true character of a loving God in the precious name of His Son.

This newsletter reports the latest additions to www.characterofGod.org which serves as a hub of information about the character of God, the people who are foremost in promoting it and more. Aside from the additions listed below, I am always making little additions to and improvements to pages as I see the need.

New Articles Added

Only a few (spring is a very busy time) new articles were added since the last newsletter:

https://characterofgod.org/your-god-looks-too-soft  (guest article)
https://characterofgod.org/judge-not/

New Glossary Entries

Two new detailed definitions were added to the Character of God and the Gospel Glossary – many more words to go:

https://characterofgod.org/condemnation-definition/
https://characterofgod.org/forgiveness-definition/

There are now 18 words in the glossary with probably 50-60 to go.

New Contributor Profiles

Welcome to Frank Zimmerman
(Duncan, BC, Canada – happens to be the city where I was born). Frank is continuing the work of Fred Wright.

Welcome also to Jay Schulberg
(Minnesota, USA) who just offered to send me a copy of his book Acts of Our Gentle God.

A benefit of featuring and reviewing material on the character of God is that authors sometimes send me copies of what they have produced.

Oscar Sande (Australia) is the newest contributor to this site. He has a wonderful story and some very nice videos.

Interest in and Call for Tracts

Marilyn Campbell has a number of tracts listed at https://characterofgod.org/marilyn-campbell/ and available from her and I have one tri-fold tract that might be helpful at https://characterofgod.org/resources/. I am hoping will be the first in a series. If there is interest in using tracts more, the contributors listed on this site might be encouraged to develop them. I will put the word out in my next newsletter. (Thanks Floyd for stimulating that thought.)

In Appreciation

A goal for this website is to share among contributors – I have learned so much from and so appreciate each one of you.  There is much we can learn from others with different perspectives and backgrounds. Here I am highlighting a few things I have learned and appreciated from different contributors (only a partial list) for everyone’s benefit.  Each name is a link to that contributors profile page which will include any information referred to below:

Greg BoydGreg Boyd internationally-recognized theologian, preacher, teacher, apologist and author featured in The New York Times, CNN, National Public Radio, the BBC etc. I appreciated his video There Must Be Something Else Going On

Adrian EbensAdrian Ebens Australian author and worldwide speaker for His recent book Agape which includes some unique insights. For example, the mirror principle where God mirrors back to man what is already in his heart to help him see his need. I have a supply of books to send free to anyone in Canada and the U.S.

Troy Edwards has been very helpful to me and is the author of a number of books dealing with a variety of character-of-God issues. Indeed he is possibly the most prolific author I have encountered in this area.

Timothy JenningsTimothy Jennings (Christian Psychiatrist) who has done so much to make clear the distinction between – the legal/penal model and the healing model of the gospel. He so clearly states that understanding the nature of God’s law is fundamental to understanding.

Graham Maxwell (deceased) who was a master of Biblical languages for his very good explanations of atonement and insights into some original word meanings.

Jeremy Myers has a popular weekly podcast. I especially like his episode Is the Shedding of Blood Required for the Forgiveness of Sins? which can be viewed at his profile page.

Oscar SandeOscar Sande, the newest contributor, has a very refreshing and attractive presentation style. He obviously loves the message he preaches. Some good videos.

Fred Wright (deceased) for his classic book Behold Your God which was one of the first I read on this subject. It includes deep insights into some difficult passages of scripture.

Brian Zahnd, author, pastorBrian Zahnd author of Sinners in the Hands of a Loving God.  Since hearing him interview William P. Young, author of The Shack, I have read and appreciated it – very different but some interesting views of the character of God.

I have spoken to or met a number of these people and appreciate them all. I would encourage you to get to know their material. These are leaders in this important area of understanding the true character of God.

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” (John 17:3)

Disclaimer

I found it necessary to add a disclaimer to all contributor pages. It looks like this:

I do not agree with everything written by all the contributors and you won’t either. They are from a variety of denominations (or from none) and have been included because of their significant contributions to spreading the truth of a loving, non-violent God.

My Other Newsletter

If of interest, please take a look at my other website www.Jesus-resurrection.info where I especially share information about a different understanding of the timing of Jesus’ resurrection as well as many other items of interest (well over 600 pages) There is also a quarterly newsletter available there highlighting current events that point to a soon Second Coming.
